Sirel spoke with the President of the Federation
of Food Industry Workers of Sao Paulo about the
solidarity actions carried out in that state.
-What is your evaluation of the activities
carried out today in Sao Paulo?
-The participation in support of the workers of
Arcor Argentina was excellent.
There was a complete stoppage of activities for
a whole two hours in two of the three Arcor
factories of the state of Sao Paulo.
The workers have shown enormous solidarity, and
they have decided that if no solution is found
to the conflict in Argentina, they will take
greater union actions.
With the forming of the Latin American
Coordinating Committee of Arcor Workers last
week, the foundations for unity of action were
laid down, and as proof of that we carried out
this mobilization and sent our fellow worker
Antonio Gonçálves Filho to represent us in
Buenos Aires.
The mobilization was very successful; we showed
Arcor that it is not dealing with
isolated unions and that the unity of workers
knows no borders.
