Carlos
Reyes, Secretary General of the Union of Beverage and Related Industry Workers (STIBYS)
and member of the International Committee of the IUF was arrested and sent to
the hospital, with his head hurt and a broken arm.
At noon in
Honduras, during a peaceful demonstration in the northern area of Tegucigalpa,
social organizations suffered extreme and massive repression by combined
military and police forces in a clear strategic turn of the regime policy
against resistance demonstrations.
We
have been informed that resistance leaders were clearly the target of
repression.
Other members of
STIBYS were also beaten and several of them are detained.
Juan Barahona,
coordinator of the Popular Bloc and a member of the National Front against the
Coup was beaten and arrested in the Police Station of Belen, along with other
leaders.
Roger Vallejo
Soriano,
a 38-year-old teacher was wounded by a bullet in his head and is very seriously
injured.
According to our
information other people were reached by bullets and are injured.
Testimonies being
broadcasted by
Radio Globo
report a considerable number of injured and arrested.
Rel-UITA
calls all affiliates to be on full alert for an imminent campaign of support and
solidarity with our affiliates in Honduras, their leaders and the
Honduran people being subject to ruthless repression.
