Secretary of Labor calls
for conciliation

The president of the Union of Workers of Unilever Caribe (SITRAUC), Wilson Montero, told Sirel that the union has received a summons from the Secretary of Labor to attend a conciliation meeting with the transnational corporation, to be held tomorrow, Tuesday 22, at 10 a.m. local hour.

SITRAUC’s Governing Committee decided to postpone the new picketing demonstration that was programmed for today in front of Unilevers administrative facilities. If no agreement is reached tomorrow, the picketing will be held on Wednesday the 23rd.

“The workers’ morale remains high and they are prepared to do whatever’s necessary to obtain the reinstatement of our four fellow workers who were fired without any real grounds. The fired workers themselves are actively participating in all the measures and actions carried out by SITRAUC, defending their right to have a thorough and union-monitored investigation of the incidents that they have been implicitly charged with,” Montero informed.
